History of Greenfield Park Estate
The Greenfield Park estate was built between the Early 1950's and Early/Mid 1960's by Wates & Company Ltd on farmland adjacent to Santry Village.

80+ Years of Community
Greenfield Park Estate, located in the Dublin 9 suburb of Santry, represents a significant phase in post-war suburban expansion in north Dublin. Developed between the early 1950s and the early-to-mid 1960s, the estate was constructed by Wates & Company Ltd, a British building firm that played a prominent role in Dublin’s mid-20th-century suburban development.
At the time of its construction, the area was transitioning from rural farmland to a more suburban environment. The land chosen for the estate bordered the historic village of Santry, which had until then maintained a rural character.
A History of Greenfield Park in Pictures

In this image from C.1952 you can see McCairn's Motors which stood where the Omni Shopping Centre is today. To the left are the initial builds in Shanliss Park and what is now Shanowen road along the left hand edge.

The above picture from 1954 shows what was Buckley Motors (Now the Garda Station complex). You can see the completed houses at that end of Shanliss Road, Avenue and Drive, as well as Shanowen Avenue on the left.

About Greenfield Park Residents' Association
The Residents association was founded in 1955 as the estate grew and over the years the association had a vibrant and active membership running regular events such as Best Garden, Cleanest Road and other community events.
We are keen to invigorate active participation throughout where we all live today.
